Geneva 2012 - A trio of convertibles

Many new convertibles have been released at Geneva this year. Here are 3 of them. First we have the 2013 Mercedes SL63 AMG convertible.

This car looks great in its silver finish and is an improvement over the last model Power is up from 429 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque to 530 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque, thanks to the same 5.5-liter, biturbocharged V8. Top speed is limited to 155, while models with the AMG package will hit 186 miles per hour.

The next car is the new Porsche Boxter S convertible which in manual non-PDK guise will have a 0-62mph of 5.1 seconds and a 0-99mph of 11.0 seconds with the PDK variants scraping 0.1 seconds off the clock. Power is 315 hp at 6,700 rpm, with 360Nm available between 4,500 to 5,800 rpm. All in all it looks to be a zippy, fun car to drive, which is what Porsches are all about.

The last car in this post is the Lumma design CLR 600 GT. This car is essential a body kitted BMW 650i with a power increase of 90hp.

To Achieve the extra power, Lumma design modified the engine’s electronics and added a new flow optimized muffler with four stainless steel tail pipes, each 90 millimetres in diameter.

As a result, the V8 engine now delivers a total of 490 HP and a peak torque of 531 lb-ft. Top speed has also been increased to 160 mph.

In my opinion, this car is one of the more tasteful tuned cars at the Geneva Motor show.
