Noisy, Ridiculous American Muscle

Written by Andrew@Shmee150

According to Muscle Cars, a book written by Peter Henshaw, a "muscle car" is "exactly what the name implies. It is a product of the American car industry adhering to the hot rodder's philosophy of taking a small car and putting a BIG engine in it. The Muscle Car is Charles Atlas (He was a very strong man) kicking sand in the face of the 98 hp (73 kW) weakling."

Muscle cars are predominantly known in America, as this was the birthplace of the muscle car. Exported all over the world, muscle cars are becoming more prominent in places other than the USA.

Australia also loves muscle cars, although quite different in appearance to a Dodge Challenger or Ford Mustang, their equivalents are equally as ferocious, loud and glorious. Everything a muscle car should be.

The first video is of a muscle car exhibiting a burnout so extreme, that not only do its wheels catch fire, but also everything in close proximity!

The next video involves a Ford Mustang Shelby GT 640, and miles upon miles of track. The Nürburgring Nordschleife. This Mustang has a much louder exhaust than normal, although the total power output is speculative as the author of the video has not stated it. The car makes a great sound, and is truly American Muscle.

On the topic of great sounds, we arrive at a Dodge Challenger SRT-8 tuned by TKO and owned by the London Motor Museum. This car makes a magnificent noise, its muscle car in the purest. Attentive motoring enthusiasts will note the type of noise coming from the engine as distinctly different to most European V8 notes, notably the European supercars.

This is due to the design of the engine crank, which changes the sound of the engine. More can be learnt by checking out this link

True muscle cars burble and grunt. It’s an amazing sound, which must be heard in real life to be truly appreciated. Now please sit back, relax and enjoy the sights and sounds filmed by Shmee150 at the Forza 4 game release event in London.

Thanks for reading, I hoped you enjoyed today's selection, please stay tuned for more, from Shmee150.
